Designing the Main Character

For our own game, which is going to be developer by me and two class mates. I have created an character. The character is very basic so that the contrast between the normal world and the other Realms is much greater. 

 I have first started with a sketch and  a short story about the main character. The main character is approximately 40 years of age and has a normal day job lives a normal live. He doesn't hate his live but he can't say he loves it. The guy is dutch and lives in the present. Which means he's in quarantine at the moment. One day he needs to take out the trash and as always he does this the night before. When he does this he's in his sweatpants and sweater.  So he takes out the garbage and as he walks back he notices something shiny on the ground. It's an pocket watch. It's made out of gold, so the character pics this thing up. He pushes the button on top of it and a portal is created in the middle of nowhere which suck the character up and that's where our game starts.

So then I decided to give the main character more depth. And added some color and shading to the character. I found my self using to much grayish colors. That's why I decided to make his sweater purple pinkish.  I decided to add grey hair in between so that the character looks his age. And also the eye sacks which are swollen give him the more tired look. The character is not very impressed nor is he in the mood for all the magic happening around him. He just want's to be home on his couch probably watching some Netflix.

And then I decided to give him a name, like every character has. But the problem was that I couldn't come up with a suiting name. So I posted the main character on my Instagram and asked my followers to come up with a name. They came up with the weirdest names. But I liked the name that the Fontys ICT013 account came up with. They came up with Fons. So I decided to call the main character Fons. By the way I also edited Fons on the picture of my living room. So without further ado I present to you FONS.

We’ve created the pitch last week. The pitch gave our clients and the teachers an idea of what we are going to build this semester for game design. It describes the main areas of our game. Game Technology Workshop 1B - The Animated Character

For this assignment we have got the following learning goals: You are able to use the sprite importer to create sprites from a texture asset You are able to create animations from sprites You are able to play animations using the Animator component and AnimatorController asset You are able to use keyboard input to change the state of the AnimatorController You are able to modify the transform component on a gameobject to move a character And the following optional learning goals: Physics and graphics separate gameobjects in child relationship You are able to distinguish different types of animation (sprite-based, transform-based, deform-based) You know how to use a LERP/SLERP function I have covered the basic learning goals in the first video.
