Animating Fons
Last week I've created the main character, which is not finished yet but now we have one and we can actually build the story around him. I will ad more details to the character later on. But first thing to do is ad some animation to the game.
I'm not an experienced animator and I know that there are alot of option amnimating one character but I don't know which one to use. So I decided to try out 3 methods.
First I tried animating Fons in Adobe Character Animator. This application let's creators animate an character using the camera and rigs. (As far as my research goes) I tried animating Fons in this software but actually wasted a lot of time. Or not really wasted 'cause I learnt that Adobe Character Animator is not made for game development.
For the front facing animation I've created a w.i.p. animation by drawing every frame.
This one also took a lot of time. But I was familiar with it, because it's basically drawing the same thing over and over again. So for this technique I didn't do to much research.
What is also worth mentioning is that we've added one prob to the game to test out the collision. We have experimented with colliders, because of the perspective of the game this took us some time to figure it out. The sprites are rotated 45 degrees and so is the camera to give the Don't Starve perspective to the game. In the video below you can see the latest version of the game.

Animating in Unity
The last technique I researched is Animating in Unity. This last one I liked the most. With Unity it's not only possible to rig the character but it's also possible to adjust the skin weight and geometry of the asset. Which is really great. So I made a very basic side view of the character in Photoshop and I animated it using Unity.Walking in Adobe Character Animator
